The American Apothecary

The American Apothecary includes research regarding medicinal and edible plants native to North America. Some species have resided throughout American soils for centuries while others have become naturalized through the Columbian Exchange and European settlement. Most of these plants have ethnobotanical importance among Native American tribes, which helps us to better understand their culture and helps to explain the existence of many folk remedies still utilized today. As more people return to herbalism and integrative medicine, it is imperative to both preserve the history surrounding our beloved herbals as well as persist in scientific research of them.
